Adventure Vets travels to George Town

George Town is 40 kilometres from Launceston. For a dog who gets anxious in the car, an older cat who hasn’t seen a vet in two years because the trip is too hard, or a resident who finds the drive genuinely difficult — that distance matters.

Adventure Vets removes it entirely. Dr Kristina Fisher visits George Town every Tuesday on the East Tamar Highway circuit. The consult happens at your address, in the space your animal already knows.

Adventure Vets visits George Town, Bell Bay and Low Head every Tuesday on the East Tamar Highway circuit. Thursday and Friday visits are also available at per-kilometre rates from Longford.

The travel fee to George Town, Bell Bay and Low Head is $33 (East Tamar Highway route). The standard consult is $125. Additional charges may apply based on distance and complexity of situation.

What George Town pet owners are telling us

  • The drive to Launceston is not always an option

Forty minutes each way, plus the appointment, plus the time to settle an animal who spent the whole trip in distress. For many George Town households — particularly those with older pets, residents who no longer drive comfortably, or animals who find the journey genuinely unpleasant — the logistics of a Launceston vet visit can become a reason to delay care that should not be delayed. A Tuesday visit from Adventure Vets changes that calculation. The vet comes to George Town. The animal stays at home. The appointment fits into the day instead of consuming it.

  • Older pets deserve consistent, familiar care

George Town’s dominant age cohort is 60–69, and the LGA median age is 49 — the oldest of any suburb on the Adventure Vets circuit. Older residents often have older pets: animals who have been part of the household for a decade or more, managing arthritis, weight, dental disease, or chronic conditions that need monitoring rather than single-visit fixes. Dr Kristina can set up a recurring Tuesday visit schedule for animals who need regular check-ins, managing their care at home over time without repeated trips to a clinic 40 kilometres away.

  • When getting to a clinic is its own challenge

Some households in George Town, Bell Bay and Low Head do not have easy access to private transport, or find longer drives genuinely difficult. This is not uncommon in regional communities with an ageing demographic. A home visit removes the transport barrier entirely. Dr Kristina comes to the address. Pets who would otherwise miss routine vaccinations, health checks, or medication reviews because the trip is not manageable can receive care without leaving home.

  • Coastal living, outdoor animals, and the conditions that come with them

George Town sits at the mouth of the Tamar estuary. Low Head is a working coastal headland. Many animals in this area spend time outdoors near the water, in salt air, on grass and beach margins, or in properties with significant outdoor space. Skin and ear conditions, seasonal allergies, and parasite management are common presentations in coastal communities. Dr Kristina can assess and manage these at home, in the environment where they actually occur, and advise on ongoing prevention in the specific conditions your animal lives in.

Kristina came to our house to check over and vaccinate our cat before he was boarded. It was the best experience for us and Bluey.. he was comfortable in his home and the care and attention to detail was second to none. A great flexible caring service- wouldn't hesitate to use again! 🐱

Kate Williams

Great service and care provided for our animals

Shel M

So happy to have found Kristina! She came and saw our dog John promptly after being unsuccessful with many vets not wanting to take new clients. Kristina saw us within 2 days and was so lovely you can tell she really cares. John had an ear infection and doesn't like stuff being put in his ears… Kristina was efficient and assertive which John needed to get the job done. His ears have already cleared up and he's so much happier to be on the mend. Highly recommended Kristina especially if your pet is a little harder to handle when it comes to procedures. Very grateful.

Adventure Vets understands George Town

George Town pet owners consists of a mix of labourers, trades, community service and clerical work. And with a population median age on the higher end, it might not always be easy to make time to bring sick pets to the vet.

The most likely booking patterns from George Town on the Tuesday circuit: vaccination catch-ups for animals who have not been seen in some time because the Launceston trip was not practical, health checks and chronic disease monitoring for older animals, skin and ear presentations in coastal outdoor dogs, and home euthanasia for long-term companion animals whose owners want to avoid a final long drive. First-time bookings from households where vet access has been genuinely limited are common on circuits like this one.
