Perth, skip the troubles with Adventure Vet

Getting a pet to a clinic in Launceston means loading up the car, sitting in traffic on the Midland Highway, and managing an animal that’s already worked out something is wrong. For Perth households (many with dogs used to running paddocks, cats who have never left the property, or older animals who find travel hard), there’s a better option. Adventure Vets comes to you, consultation happens in the space your pet already knows.

Dr Kristina Fisher visits Perth every Monday to Friday on the West Tamar and Midland Highway circuit. Thursday and Friday visits can also be arranged at per-kilometre rates.

The travel fee to Perth starts from $22 as part of the Midland Highway circuit. A standard consult is $125.

Perth pet owners, these are our commitments

  • Your property is part of the consult

A dog who is stiff getting up in the morning is easier to assess at home than in a clinic. Dr Kristina can watch how your dog moves across your actual yard, on the surfaces they live on, in the temperatures they work in. That context changes what she sees. Perth and the surrounding Northern Midlands have a high proportion of properties with paddocks, dogs that work or roam, and animals who spend most of their time outdoors. A home visit captures that picture in a way a clinic exam cannot.

  • Less stress means a more accurate picture

Cats in particular often mask symptoms the moment they’re in an unfamiliar space. A cat who seems ‘fine’ at the clinic and comes home limping again hasn’t been assessed at their baseline. Dr Kristina sees your cat where they actually live: on their usual perch, in their usual light, without the adrenaline of a car trip and a waiting room full of strangers. For Perth households where cats are outdoor or semi-outdoor, that difference can be significant.

  • One trip covers multiple animals

Perth properties often have more than one pet. Loading a dog, two cats and a rabbit into separate carriers and making separate clinic trips is a half-day exercise. Adventure Vets charges A$100 per additional animal seen in the same visit. Dr Kristina and Andrew work through each animal at home, with no separate trips and no separate waiting.

  • Monday to Friday visits, no special trip to Launceston

Perth sits on the Midland Highway route, 20km south of Launceston. Adventure Vets travels this corridor every Monday to Friday as part of the regular circuit. The travel fee from Launceston to Perth is $22.

A huge thank you to Kristina for visiting us and taking such wonderful care of our pet sheep Rosie. Her calm caring nature made the whole experience stress-free and it's clear she genuinely loves what she does. We're so grateful to have such a kind and knowledgeable mobile vet who comes right to your home. And very reasonable fees and quick availability too. Absolutely recommend! ❤️

So happy to have found Kristina! She came and saw our dog John promptly after being unsuccessful with many vets not wanting to take new clients. Kristina saw us within 2 days and was so lovely you can tell she really cares. John had an ear infection and doesn't like stuff being put in his ears… Kristina was efficient and assertive which John needed to get the job done. His ears have already cleared up and he's so much happier to be on the mend. Highly recommended Kristina especially if your pet is a little harder to handle when it comes to procedures. Very grateful.

Adventure Vet brings the clinic to Perth

The most common booking types from rural and peri-urban towns on this circuit are mobility checks for older dogs, vaccination catch-ups for animals that haven’t made it to a clinic in a while, and multi-pet visits where the household has dogs, cats and sometimes rabbits or chooks to see in one go. Sedation for grooming is also common for dogs who have never settled on a grooming table. Adventure Vets can assess and manage this at home, then issue a letter for the groomer if sedation protocols are agreed.

Frequently asked questions

Three regular days: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday visits are also available at per-kilometre rates on request. Longford is the base point for the circuit, which means it is the most scheduling-flexible location on the route.

What does a home visit cost from Perth?

The standard consult is A$125. The travel fee to Perth is A$22. If you have more than one animal to see in the same visit, each additional animal is A$100. An extended consult surcharge of A$25 applies for more complex or longer appointments.

Do you see animals other than cats and dogs?

Yes. Adventure Vets routinely sees dogs, cats, rabbits and chooks. Selected large-animal work is also available. Contact the team to discuss your specific situation before booking.

Can you manage an older dog who has trouble walking?

Yes. Mobility checks are one of the most commonly booked services on the rural circuit. Dr Kristina can assess how your animal moves in your own yard, on the ground they actually live on, and develop a management plan from there.

What happens if my pet needs something Adventure Vets can’t do at home?

Some treatments require clinic equipment: major surgery, complex imaging, overnight care and emergency procedures cannot be done on a home visit. If your pet needs this level of care, Dr Kristina will organise a referral, share your pet’s history with the receiving clinic, and help you plan the visit. She can then continue home-based follow-up, medication reviews and comfort care once your pet is back.

What if my pet needs emergency care overnight?

Adventure Vets operates by appointment during business hours and does not provide after-hours emergency services. If your pet needs urgent overnight care, contact Animal Emergency Hospital Launceston on (03) 6344 7000 or Animal Emergency Centre Hobart on (03) 6244 7667. Save both numbers before you need them.

Thank you! We have received your question and will get back asap! 😊
